| There are many dozens of places where you can get overnight or extended accommodation in the Southern Highlands. Available types are shown and described below. Click on the links to go to a listing of the accommodation type of your choice. There are links also in each section to take you to pages with further information about venues.

TYPES OF ACCOMMODATION AVAILABLE

Bed & Breakfast Accommodation in private homes. Tariff ranges from as low as $150 (per double, per night - weekends) up to $250. Includes up to 5 star accommodation. Can be in an historic or even great country house, or farm stay. Typically features landscaped gardens; private or ensuite bathroom; traditional cooked or gourmet breakfasts. Tariff is often discounted during midweek, and for multiple nights' stay. |

Guest Houses or small hotels. Tariff ranges from $150 (per double, per night) on weekends. Includes beautifully restored famous guest houses of yesteryear, often with luxury amenities. Most have private and ensuite bathrooms. Traditional cooked or gourmet breakfasts included; many offer all meals in tariff. Tariff is often discounted during midweek, and for groups or multiple nights' stay. |

Hotels offer basic accommodation in licensed premises (sometimes in historic buildings.) Tariff ranges from $40 (per double, per night); often extra on weekends. Meals not included. There is one Youth Hostel in the Highlands. Caravan Parks offer serviced lots, and cabins and vans. Some venues offer Bunkhouse accommodation for groups. All venues in this category usually have only shared bathrooms |

Motels range from basic standard to modern luxury accommodation. Tariff starts from $60 - 120 (per double, per night), with ensuite bathrooms; breakfast extra. Some are attached to hotels and inns which offer bistros and restaurants. Some also offer holiday packages (golf etc.) Tariff is sometimes discounted during midweek, or for groups and multiple nights' stay. |

Resorts historic and traditional grand country houses. Tariff packages start from $200 to $400 (per double, per night) depending on number of meals included. Resorts typically have: licensed bars; 1st class dining rooms/restaurants; dance floors; entertainment; conference facilities; and extensive recreational amenities including swimming pools, spas, saunas, gymnasiums, games rooms, golf courses, tennis courts, etc. Prize-winning gardens often a bonus. Special individual and group packages usually available throughout the year. |

Self-contained accommodation includes Cottages/apartments, houses or semi-detached venues, and farm stays.
Cottages are fully furnished/equipped. Tariff from $150 per night (for 2) to $600 per night (6 or more); children usually welcome.
Farm Stays usually self-contained units near homestead; children usually welcome, with benefit of exploring the farm. (Some B&Bs and self-contained apartments may also be on or adjacent to farms, although would not be classified as farm stays as such.)
All typically offer beautiful country gardens; some "basket" breakfasts. Tariff often discounted during midweek, and for multiple nights' stay. |
