BACK O' THE MOON
Back O' The Moon is a 3 acre park-like garden developed over 12 years from scratch set against acres of beautiful open grazing country on the outskirts of Moss Vale.
Against a background of hedges and mature pines, the gardens ramble around the homestead with lawns planted with a variety of specimen trees: dogwood, crabapple, flowering cherries, rhododendrons, maples, Manchurian pears and birches.
A number of special features make this an interesting garden to visit from spring through to autumn.
Parterre
A classic parterre of 16th century French design features Dutch and English box set against gravel around an antique urn.
Lilac Walk
A delightful walk through lilacs and under rose arches leads from the parterre to the pond. Here there is a summer house covered in roses.
Woodland Garden
Alongside is a woodland garden row of alders underplanted with bluebells and forget-me-nots in spring.
Perennial Borders
Colourful from spring to summer, the property is bordered by gardens featuring perennial flowers underplanted by annuals.
The borders feature delphiniums, peonies, pansies, roses, rhododendrons, sasanqua camellias, verbenums, white magnolias, irises, bulbs and other colourful blooms.
This side of the garden has whimsical features including statues, scarecrows and dovecots.
Rose Garden
The magnificent rose garden - at its best from November through April - displays 300 hybrid and David Austin roses in a formal setting surrounded by box hedges.
