Heritage 19th Century Cottage.
Kangaberry (c.1878) is a three bedroom mid-Victorian style residence.
It is a fine example of a character home with its sandstone brick construction, high timber ceilings and wide floorboards.
Kangaberry is conveniently located only 250 metres from the village cafes and restaurants.
Today's luxurious country cottage.
Today, lovingly rebuilt, Kangaberry has unobtrusive modern touches in a minimalist style which complement the heritage features of this fine old cottage.
Central gas heating and modern appliances have been added whilst a traditional cedar fit-out enhances the existing character of the house.
A working fireplace and pot-belly stove have been retained.
A delightful north facing terrace at the rear, constructed of Bundanoon sandstone, is the ideal spot for breakfast on warm mornings or lazy lunches and BBQs.
Modern self-contained accommodation for up to 6 people.
Kangaberry has 3 spacious bedrooms, each with a queen sized bed. Luxurious Laura Ashley and Sheridan linen, electric blankets, cosy doonas, and central heating ensure you a refreshing night's sleep.
The heritage feel of the polished floors is complemented by antique C19th French Provincial wardrobes. Windows look out on to the verandahs and gardens beyond.
The bedrooms share a large and luxurious bathroom at the rear of the house. Delightfully finished in travertine stone floors and old brass, flooded with morning sunlight and one of the favourite rooms in the cottage, the bathroom boasts a separate WC, claw foot bath and shower recess. (Linen provided.)
Room to entertain your guests.
At the centre of the cottage is a large living room with comfortable club lounges. Relax here with your friends in front of the open fire, curl up with a book or magazine, or watch widescreen TV on the 'home theatre'. A DVD/CD player is provided (DVD hire in the village).
Your favourite room may be the large country dining area. Sit here with your guests around the family sized French Provincial dining table over a meal, or perhaps chat over a glass of local wine.
The gourmet kitchen adjacent has a large country-style gas range with burners and oven, a fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and appliances. Utensils and tableware for up to 8 make catering a breeze.
Tea and coffee making facilities are provided - please bring your own breakfast and other catering provisions. A delicatessen and supermarket can be found in the village; there are cafes and restaurants in Bundanoon and nearby villages.
French doors from the dining area lead out onto a beautiful sandstone terrace surrounded by box hedges and overlooking the garden. Our guests rate this one of their favourite spots, perfect for lunch around the rustic table (BBQ faciities provided).
Relaxing country setting.
Kangaberry is the ideal place for a country escape. Our half acre of garden features spring bulbs, camellias, mature trees and slopes down the hill to a small orchard which overlooks a highland glen and further to Morton National Park. (A picnic here in this tranquil setting is a favourite of guests.)
You share the garden only with our resident wombat and the many colourful native birds (including the occasional bowerbird!).
A few minutes' walk takes you to the village, or a brisk walk down Constitution Hill takes you to Gambell's Rest and the lookouts and walking trails of Morton National Park.
Explore the Highlands and its many attractions - other towns and villages are a short drive away - and return to a relaxing night at Kangaberry.
