PYGMY HILL ESTATE

In 1993 the Brazenor family, mother, son and two daughters, bought a property at Canyonleigh, after the death of the eldest son Andrew, using his life insurance as the deposit.

1994: they built a 5 bedroom, guest house and called it 'The Farmhouse'.

1996: they planted 2000 Chardonnay V3 vines and named the vineyard Pygmy Hill Estate - after Andrew whose nickname was "Pygmy".

1997: six hundred Cabernet Sauvignon vines were planted. These were 4 years old vines, transplanted from Kevin Howard's vineyard at Mittagong - "Howards Lane".

First vintage 1999 produced 540 bottles of Chardonnay and 400 bottles of Cabernet Sauvignon, both wines showed intense fruit flavour.

In the years since Pygmy Hill Estate has continued to produce fine quality cool climate wines - available by direct sale to the public.

THE FARMHOUSE

The Farmhouse has for many years been a popular rural getaway for families and groups of friends who enjoy the peace and tranquility of its spectacular location overlooking the vineyards and on towards deep valleys and bushland.

Most recently it has been discovered by wedding parties, and other special interest groups such as golfers - or writers, quilters, knitters and others who enjoy the companionship of The Farmhouse and its opportunity for workshopping and relaxation.
